This course was prepared for
European hobbyist users. Some of the illustrations and texts are not appropriate
to conditions in developing countries, where the proposed local structures are
more widely based than those foreseen for European conditions. Whereas local
money systems in European countries tend to be seen as suitable for hobbyist
activities complementary to those carried out under the formal money system,
the structures proposed in the Model for integrated development are designed to
form part of fully integrated, cooperative, interest-free, inflation-free,
voluntary local economy systems to be used for most commercial transactions for
the transfer of locally produced and sold goods and services. The purpose of
the local money systems is to create a financial instrument to enable people in
a given project area without formal money means to freely transfer goods and
services there.
