report to 30/06/2010
Periodic report to the board under article 5 of the Director’s rules (in Dutch) dated 25/10/2005 for the six
months’ period to 30th June, 2010.
This is the ninth report on the activities of Stichting Bakens Verzet (NGO “Another Way”). The report
describes the activities of the Association from 1/1/2010 to 30/06/2010.
The period 1/1/2010 – 30/06/2010 was primarily
dedicated to completing the drafting of the English version of the e-learning
course at post-masters level for the Diploma in Integrated Development
described in the 2009 reports. The French language version of the course was
completed in September 2009. The extensive work needed for the drafting of the
list of
references and the key word lists, in both French and English,
was completed. The course is available for use by all free of charge at website
www.flowman.nl .
Assistance was given to the editing of the papers by L.F.Manning “The Interest-bearing debt system and its
economic impacts” and “Pathways to sustainable debt” on the
mechanics of the current financial system. The papers will be published at
website www.flowman.nl
once they have been approved by the organisation that commissioned them.
In cooperation with the Niger NGO Naabi-Aba, proposals were made for submission to UEMOA (the West Afircan Economic
Union) for the drafting of a detailed plan for the integrated development of the member
countries of the Union, and for a possible consultancy contract for the review
of the policies of the West-African
organisation L’Association pour
Extended assistance was given to the local NGO Naabi-Aba, Makalondi. Niger in
connection with applications to the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) for finance for a project favouring the participation
of women candidates at local and national elections in Niger .
Support was given to the British NGO Mpende Jirani, which is editing
the Diploma Course in Integrated Development for use in particular by members
of the Kenyan diaspora interested in taking action
for the improvement of the quality of life of the poor in

During the first six months of 2010, the Director
worked free of charge in the interests of the Association. Since the
Association issued four small invoice for the sale of diaphragm hand-pumps
spare parts for solar pumps previously received in gift, the Director may be
able to make a call for partial
reimbursement of costs under The Director’s Rules (document
in Dutch) dated 25/10/2005 at
the end of the year.

The potential value
of the
Association lies in the (non commercial) immaterial value of the Model for
Integrated Development Projects and in the Association’s e-learning
course for the Diploma in Integrated Development. The Association may act as
consultant for the execution of integrated development projects in developing
countries subject to payment of a modest per diem fee covering accommodation
and keep. Tutor-led courses for the Diploma in Integrated Development will be
charged for on a tutor-cost recovery only basis. As at 30/06/2010 none of the
proposed integrated development projects had been financed.
