SOLAR SPRING : MAINTENANCE
Maintenance of the pump body
Tools required : Special pump body support tool (914) or equivalent. Clip tweezers for spring clips
Note : It is rarely necessary to remove and/or replace parts inside the pump body (332).
(Drawing of pump body parts from photo 21-152)
Step one
Check the pump body "O" rings (331) and (333) for signs of defects. They are not subject to wear and tear. They should be properly seated in their respective positions on the pump body (332), the smaller, thinner ring (331) towards the top (narrower) end of the pump body (332) and the larger, thicker ring (333) at the base of the pump body (332)
Step two
How to remove the shaft bearing (334) inside the upper (narrower) part of the pump body (332). Use tweezers to remove the spring clip (335) and extract the shaft bearing (334).
The shaft bearing (334) rarely requires replacement.
Step three
When fitting a new or replacing the old shaft bearing (334) you may find it useful to do this through the base of the pump body, after having removed the spring clip (337) and the oil seal (336).
Drawing from photo 25-152)
Note : Make sure the shaft bearing (334) is fully seated so that the spring clip (335) fits correctly into place in the slot provided in the pump body (332).
Step four
How to remove and replace the oil seal (336).The oil seal (336) is situated in the base of the pump body (332) and is accessed via the base of the pump body (332) by releasing the oil seal spring clip (337) using tweezers. Replace the oil seal (336) if it shows signs of defects or if there is evidence of leakage on other pump parts.
Step five
Refit the (new) oil seal (336) and the spring clip (337) making sure the spring clip (337) is fully housed in its seat in the pump body (332).
