SOLAR SPRING SOLAR PUMPS

MAINTENANCE

Reassembly of motor group

Step one

The operator may wish to check the oil seal (336) and the upper shaft bearing (334) placed at the top of the pump body (332) should be checked. Please refer to page 23 of these instructions on how to remove, check, and replace them. Where the pump has been used for some time, it may be considered good practice to replace the oil seal as a matter of course.

Step two

Gently ease the camshaft (338) through the oil seal (336) and into the upper shaft bearing (334) in the top the pump body (332). Make sure that the camshaft (338) is correctly seated at the top of the motor (343). This will be the case when the pump body (332) sits neatly against the motor (343) under its own weight.

Step three

Align the holes of the four screws (342) with the corresponding bolt holes in the pump body (332) and position and lightly tighten the four screws (342) using a screwdriver then make a second round and firmly tighten the four screws (342).

Step four

Refer to page 5 of this part of the manual to check the motor brushes. Make sure the brushes are correctly positioned and firmly in place.

Step five

Before replacing the motor shroud (358) make sure the pump wires are correctly connected

Step six

Make sure the body "O" ring seating in the pump body (332) and the lower body "O" ring (333) are both clean. WARNING : The lower body "O" ring (333) MUST be replaced if it shows signs of even the slightest damage.

Step seven

Make sure the lower body "O" ring (333) is correctly seated inside the appropriate seat on the pump body (332)

Drawing of seating of the lower body "O" ring (333))

Step eight

Lightly grease the outer surface of the lower body "O" ring (333)

Step nine

Set the motor shroud (358) on its base (361) upright on a work bench or on the ground. Ease the motor (343) and pump body (332) into the shroud (358). Be careful not to foul the motor cable (363). The motor and pump assembly should rest evenly in the shroud (358) with the lip of the shroud (358) close to the (lightly greased) lower body "O" ring (333). Push downward firmly and evenly on top of the pump body (332). The lower pump body and motor will slide neatly into the motor shroud (358) so that the top edge of the motor shroud (358) will be able to make contact with the underside of the flange (314 ).

WARNING ! CORRECT SEALING BETWEEN THE PUMP GROUP AND THE MOTOR IS OF FUNDAMENTAL IMPORTANCE. IF IT IS NOT DONE PROPERLY AND CAREFULLY WATER MAY ENTER THE MOTOR CHAMBER.

WARNING! REFER TO opening pump ON WHAT TO DO IF OIL HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE SYSTEM.

Note : For assembly of piston group please see reassembly

Proceed to replace the pump motor shroud (358) only when work (where required) on the piston group and on the main valve group has been completed and the non toxic oil (956) replaced.

Step one

Make sure the valve "O" ring seating in the pump body (332) and the upper body "O" ring (331) are both clean.
Note : The valve sealing ring very rarely needs replacement as it is not subject to normal wear and tear. Check it for signs of physical damage. It should be ALWAYS be replaced if it shows even the smallest signs of damage.

Step two

Make sure the upper body "O" ring (331) is correctly seated in its seating in the pump body (332)

Step three

Lightly grease the outer surface of the upper body "O" ring (331)

Step four

Position the completely assembled valve group (326 etc) with the ovoid chamber group (315) over pump body (332). Then position the filter (321).

Step five

Position the tie-rod "U-straps" (362) so they are correctly seated in the motor shroud base (361) .

Step six

Position the "U-strap" tie-rods (362) in the flange fixing ring (314) so that the electric cable passage in the ring (314) is lined up with cable passage in the motor shroud (358).
WARNING : The electric cable must not be twisted.

Step seven

Put the washers (313) on the threads of the tie-straps (362) and fasten the self locking nuts (312) firmly and evenly but without overtightening, making sure the valve chamber (326) is neatly in contact with its seat in the pump body (332) and the "U-straps" (362) are reasonably straight.

Step eight

Where appropriate, seal the pump by threading a fine wire through the hole in one of the "U" straps (362) and a rope hole in the flange (314) and sealing the wire.

Step nine

Make sure the safety cord is correctly fastened to sealing ring bracket (314). This should not have been removed.
