SOLAR SPRING SOLAR PUMPS
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance of the electric cable
The Solar Spring motor runs in a dry environment and it is important that water be kept out of the motor chamber. The cable joint in the motor shroud (358) must be carefully protected at all times in such manner as to be completely water-tight. The pump is supplied with a length of special neoprene electric cable which is specially sealed a) individual wire to wire sheath, b) individual wire sheaths to external sheath and c) external sheath to the cable guide in the motor shroud (358).
Should it ever be necessary to separate the electric cable from the motor shroud (358) the following procedure must be carefully followed :
How to solder the electric cable to the motor shroud (358)
Tools and materials required : Heat gun, cable stripper
Soldering sleeve
1) Cut the cable (363) and make a "fresh" end and clean the cable guide on the motor shroud (358)
2) Strip the outer sheath off the last 20cm of the cable (363)
3) Slide a 20cm length of self-welding sleeve (---) onto the cable (363)
4) Slide a cable stop "O" ring ( ---) onto the cable (363)
5) Push the cable (363) into the cable guide in the motor shroud (358) so that the outer sheath of the cable enters the cable guide.
(Drawing)
6) Weld the shroud end of the self welding sleeve (---) onto the cable guide along the whole length of the cable guide.
7) Fit the cable "O" ring (---) under the self-welding sleeve (---) at a position about 3 centimetres from the unwelded end of the cable sleeve (---)
(Drawing)
8) Weld the rest of the self-welding sleeve (---) onto the electric cable (363) and over the cable "O" ring (---).
(Drawing)
Note : The cable "O" ring serves as a stop, to protect the cable terminals should weight accidentally end up on the electrical cable
