MAINTENANCE

Maintenance of the outlet group

Tools and materials required : Spanner size 22, spanner size 36, vice, teflon tape

NOTE : The rubber ovoid (319) and its centering piece (320) have to be removed and/or the rapid coupling group (parts 302-306) dismantled :

1) if a Hyboost hydraulic booster unit is fitted to the pump after supply of the pump (if the pump is ordered with a Hyboost hydraulic booster, the Hyboost booster will normally already be mounted on the pump and no action is required) or
2) if, after many years of use, the ovoid (319) loses its elasticity and requires replacement.
Otherwise the outlet group does not require any maintenance.
The self-cleaning bleeder nipple part (308) may, rarely, be obstructed. This may be effected by simply shaking the metal wire which protrudes from the nipple. WIGGLE THE WIGGLE WIRE WHENEVER YOU PULL THE PUMP. Blockage of the bleeder hole rarel seriously affects pump operation, but should you find the bleeder hole blocked, please report this to your supplier.

Step one

Changing the ovoid (319) and/or the centering piece (320). The ovoid (319) and centering piece (320) can be removed on the opening of the pump (refer to page 04.03 being page 3 of this section of the manual). They are to be removed if a Hyboost hydraulic booster is (to be) mounted on the pump and stored carefully for future use. They are to be reinserted if a Hyboost hydraulic booster is taken off the pump..
Note : An ovoid requires replacement only when it has lost its spring effect, or is showing obvious external signs of wear or cuts. As a general rule, the ovoid, if placed in water should float. If it does not float, this means it has absorbed water and must be replaced.

Step 2

Removing the rapid coupling (for re-positioning on Hyboost hydraulic booster). The rapid coupling (parts 302-306) needs to be re-positioned on the outlet of a Hyboost hydraulic booster unit . Use hemp wool eventually with teflon tape for all joints. Do not use teflon tape on its own. Hemp wool offers better sealing properties as, if there is a leak, it expands as it gets wet to seal the leak. Teflon tape does not seal a leak once it has occurred.
IMPORTANT : It is not necessary to dismantle the rapid coupling itself, unless the coupling is showing signs of leakage such as stains on the external parts of the pump.

Step three

Screw the Hyboost directly and tightly on to the foot valve body (307). Use hemp wool with teflon tape for all joints.

Step four

Replacement of the foot valve rubber

Very rarely, it may be necessary to replace the foot valve rubber. In such case it is not necessary to dismantle the rapid coupling group (parts 302-306). Use the size 22 spanner to separate the foot-valve body (307) from the main outlet group (nipple with bleeder (308)).Where the rapid coupling is not released, it will be easier to turn the entire pump around rather than the feed pipe.
WARNING : Pay particular attention not to damage the electric cable at the point where it enters the pump. In case of doubt, dismantle the rapid coupling group.

Step five

Examine the foot valve rubber and replace it if it shows clear signs of wear and tear.
Replace the foot valve with rubber (307) if necessary.
