General information
SIMA is a non governmental, non profit making community based organization based in the Transzoia district of Kenya.It was formed in 1993 and registered with the government of Kenya in 1994 (register number TN/ 2405/1994). The overall goal was to mobilize the community against poverty and HIV/AIDS.
The organization has 21 members over 600 associate members (volunteers). The 21 members are all professionals. 2 of them are Electricians, 4 are teachers, 4 are plumbers, 2 are doctors, one is a nurse, 5 are farmers, 2 are accountants and 1 is a social social worker.

Projects Undertaken:
1) Stone cutting-Block and Ballast making
2) Tree Planting-in quarried areas and other bare grounds for Environmental Conservation
3) Improvement of road from Lukhome to Lukesi Primary school
4) Home-Based Care and Basic support to AIDS patients
5) HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns
6) Agricultural Projects- Dairy farming and Horticulture
Presence in the Saboti area:
SIMA is fully recognized and accepted in the area it serves. The community is supportive at large, in terms of finances, material and human resources. Its programs are participatory and hence involve many people.
The organization enjoys a high membership and the Board of Management members cut along all professional lines; social, cultural, processional religious and geographical.
Services
SIMA’s main office is located in the Mombassa Video house, 1st floor room 02 along the Central Elgon road, Kitale town. This is a single spacious two roomed Office. The building has facilities for conferences, seminars, etc that SIMA pays a fee to use as required.
SIMA has a branch office (single-roomed) at the Saboti market next to the Kenya Police post in Nakami.
Security in both offices is good as the premises are next to or within security service units.
There is space for expansion, if need be to include storage, yard and other necessary units.
