Part 1.17.00 Annual and periodic reports of the Association.

11 - Period  report to 30/06/2011.

 

Periodic report to the board under article 5 of the Director’s rules  (in Dutch) dated 25/10/2005 for the six months’ period to 30th June, 2011.

 

This is the eleventh report on the activities of  Stichting Bakens Verzet (NGO “Another Way”). The report describes the activities of the Association from 1/1/2011 to 30/06/2011.

 

Full-time work was dedicated to the analysis and drafting of new proposals on how to finance integrated development projects through the CDM mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol.

Section 9 was particularly challenging. It included to following subsections :

 

09-01. CO2 savings through the reduced use of non-renewable biomass for cooking purposes through the introduction of improved stoves.

09-02. Demonstration project for the recovery of forest lands and natural parks and reserves using traditional species.

09-03. Afforestation activities in settlements as defined  for the distributed planting of fruit and nut trees and similar.

09-04. Small-scale agro-forestry activities – such as distributed bamboo plantations on grasslands and croplands.

09-05. Small-scale agro-forestry activities – distributed demonstration plantations for practical purposes for local use, including but not limited to Moringa plantations on marginal lands.

09-06. Demonstration afforestation and/or reforestation (AR) projects on wetlands using traditional species.

09-07.  Demonstration afforestation and/or reforestation projects on lands having low inherent potential to support living biomass.

09-08. Use of renewable biomass instead of non-renewable biomass with improved cook stoves.

09-09. Recycling of human waste to avoid the use of industrial fertilisers.

09-10. Methane recovery from animal waste for cooking and lighting purposes especially in pastoralist areas.

09-11. Replacement of kerosene lamps, incandescent light bulbs, and of the use of throw-away batteries by renewable energy sources (wind, solar and/or renewable bio-mass including but not limited to plant oil, gasification of biomass).

09-12. Replacement of non-renewable electrical, diesel- and battery-driven sources for mechanical equipment such as pumps and mills and, where applicable, pubic lighting systems.

09-13. Local recycling and recovery of materials from solid wastes, including but not limited to plastics.

The homepage of website www.integrateddevelopment.org  was visited about 7500 times a month ( about 250 times a day), with an average of about 2400 hits a day. Average monthly website traffic was  about 7.5 gigabyte.

 

During the first six months of 2011, the Director worked free of charge in the interests of the Association.

 

The Association received a small BTW tax return for  the year 2010 (€ 214). Costs incurred for formalities and computer maintenance amounted to about € 250. The Association made no commercial sales.

 

The balance on bank account 78.13.27.598 with the Triodos Bank in Zeist as at 30/06/2011 was Euro 921,97.

 

The potential value of  the Association lies in the (non commercial) immaterial value of the Model for Integrated Development Projects and in the Association’s e-learning course for the Diploma in Integrated Development. The Association may act as consultant for the execution of integrated development projects in developing countries subject to payment of a modest per diem fee covering accommodation and keep. Tutor-led courses for the Diploma in Integrated Development will be charged for on a tutor-cost recovery only basis. As at 30/06/2011 none of the proposed integrated development projects had been financed.
